What affects the cost

Size and wall span
A media wall built across a single chimney breast costs less than one spanning an entire wall floor-to-ceiling.
Integrated electric fire
Adding a fire unit means extra electrics, ventilation and often a higher-spec finish around the fire opening.
Finish
A painted MDF/plasterboard finish is more cost-effective than panelled, textured, or stone-effect cladding finishes.
Lighting
Simple LED strip lighting is inexpensive to add during the build; multi-zone app-controlled lighting adds more.
Storage and shelving
Fully enclosed cabinetry with doors costs more than open shelving.
Maintenance & aftercare
- Dust shelving and any glass fire fascia regularly to prevent buildup around vents
- Avoid overloading floating shelves beyond their designed weight limit
- If an electric fire is fitted, keep the vents clear of furnishings and follow the manufacturer's cleaning guidance
